Hall of Fame Spotlight- Yale Rosen

Yale Rosen is remembered as one of the
greatest power hitters in Newport Gulls history.
Arriving in Newport from Washington State
Cougars baseball, Rosen quickly became one
of the most feared hitters in the New England
Collegiate Baseball League. His combination
of strength, bat speed, and clutch hitting
turned historic Cardines Field into a launching
pad throughout the summer season.
Rosen put together one of the most dominant
offensive campaigns the franchise has ever
seen, posting a remarkable .730 slugging percentage while blasting 12
home runs — both Newport franchise records that still stand today. In
2012 Yale had a .330 batting average, with 10 2B, 12 HR and 36 RBI,
a threat every time he stepped to the plate. His explosive production
earned him NECBL Rookie of the Year honors, named to the NECBL
All Star team, and named 1st Team All NECBL establishing him as
one of the premier offensive players in the league. Rosen was also a
driving force behind the Gulls' fifth NECBL championship, anchoring
an offense that finished the season with a league-record .925 OPS.
His ability to change games with one swing made him a centerpiece of
one of the most productive teams in Newport history.
Following his standout collegiate and summer league career, Rosen
was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 2014 MLB Draft. The
power continued throughout his professional career in the Padres

organization, where he appeared in 126 games and totaled 47 extra-
base hits, including 17 home runs. Rosen's unforgettable summer in

Newport remains one of the greatest displays of power hitting ever
seen in a Gulls uniform.
Yale resides in Bozeman, Montana with his girlfriend Sydney Harvey,
Son Cody Rosen and Daughter Casey Rosen.
